Caring for our guests goes hand in hand with caring for the place we call home. Located in the heart of the Hastings Region, we feel a real responsibility to protect the local environment and support the community that makes this hotel what it is.

Sustainability isn't a finished project for us, it's an ongoing journey. We're actively building on our practices as part of Accor's broader sustainability commitments, and continuing to look for better ways to reduce our footprint.

  • LED and energy-efficient lighting in place across the hotel
  • Actively working to remove single-use plastics, including toiletries, straws and bottled water, from the guest experience

Water conservation

  • Linen and towel reuse program to reduce water and energy use
  • Water-saving taps, showers and toilets in place throughout the hotel

Waste reduction & recycling

  • Recycling in place at front desk and in all guest rooms
  • Regular food waste measurement in Birdrock's kitchen, to track and reduce our footprint over time

Responsible sourcing

  • Local and regional suppliers prioritised for food, beverage and services where we can
  • Birdrock's menu highlights seasonal, local produce

Our staff receive ongoing guidance on sustainable practices, from energy and water saving to waste sorting.

Green choice for guests

Guests who choose to skip their room clean for the day receive a $10 Food & Beverage credit to enjoy at Birdrock, our way of rewarding guests who help us reduce water, energy and laundry impact.

Mercure Centro Port Macquarie acknowledges the Birpai people, the traditional owners of the land on which we work and stay, and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging. We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who choose to call Port Macquarie Hastings home.

Community partners we're proud to support

The Glasshouse

We're partners with The Glasshouse, Port Macquarie's arts, culture and entertainment hub. Our partnership includes special accommodation rates for Glasshouse ticket holders, a dedicated rate for performers to help bring more shows to town, and dining discounts for ticket holders and members.

Hastings Business Women's Network

We support the Hastings Business Women's Network, connecting and empowering women in business across the Hastings region. We've hosted their calendar launch and supported their events with room hire, donations and vouchers.

Friends of Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park

We support Friends of Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park, who care for 55 hectares of bushland in the heart of Port Macquarie. Our team recently took part in one of their clean-up days, alongside colleagues from ibis Styles Port Macquarie and Mantra The Observatory, timed with World Cleanup Day.

Port Macquarie Surfing Museum

We're a supporter of the Port Macquarie Surfing Museum, a local not-for-profit preserving our region's surf heritage and beach culture. We provide complimentary monthly room hire and AV support, along with a member benefits program at Birdrock.
